In order to generate valuable input for the IO1 – Needs and GAP analysis FH JOANNEUM together with BRG Keplerstrasse conducted a focus group interview on the 21st of March 2018 in order to get a deep insight from diverse target groups on the needs for engineering literacy for secondary schools in Austria. The participants of the focus group represented the following target groups:

• teachers of secondary schools focusing on STEM subjects
• representatives of the college for teacher education
• founder of the Energy Forum Lippizanerheimat, an organisation offering engineering education for pupils
• representatives of the industrialists‘ association of Styria

All participants agreed that it is important to increase teachers´ didactical skills and knowledge on engineering literacy to make sure that teachers and pupils are again interested and motivated to teach and learn about engineering.
